1 and 3 Year Pictures

My favorite of the boys
We went for the boys pictures this past Saturday, only 1 month late, not too bad :) Overall the session was a huge success because I was by myself attempting to make the boys smile, although the photographer snapped all of Chase's pictures while I was trying to wipe Luke's face, thank goodness for a wonderful photographer. We ended up with some good individual pictures of both boys plus one good picture of the two boys together. Now if we could just sell our house and move, I could actually hang them up and enjoy them. Hopefully soon!

Counting up all of the loot!
Easter this year was really nice. We started with our hunt in the morning. Chase was SO excited about finding the eggs, he could barely contain himself. Buddy even got in on the action and was taking the eggs that Chase had found and rehiding them. Chase thought his basket was even cooler, he wanted to eat all of the candy for breakfast.
That afternoon we had both of our families over for a very nontraditional meal. We decided to grill out and also have an option of ham that you could turn into a sandwich. It worked out really well. The grandmas hid over 70 eggs in the yard and the kids went on another hunt. The kids excitement was contagious, it was a good time.

Last Sunday we had our annual play group birthday party to celebrate every one's venture into their 3rd year. The birthdays range from January to May so this weekend worked out great. This year we decided to make it easy and had our party through the Darien Park District. The kids played the first hour, the room was great, the moms had a chance to talk to each other! The second hour we had pizza, cake, exchanged our books and even had time to finger paint. It was so much for for both Chase and myself. Luke stayed home with Blake so that we could have some time for just to 2 of us...it was very special!

Life Update

It's been awhile since I've updated everyone on life here at the Rosenberg household so I thought I'd take a second to catch everyone up to speed!
The big concern right now is still Luke. We've been to so many specialists this past week, the GI doctor, a neurologist, a swallow-study, speech therapist and our regular pediatrician. All of these doctors and still no answers. On one hand we're glad that they haven't found anything to explain why Luke doesn't eat and we've heard that he is just a little behind with his development in all areas except for his feeding. But, we're still really frustrated because other than continuing our OT and speech appointments, nothing is really in the works to "fix" the problem, although we don't even know if anything needs to be "fixed". We do know that he has weighed the same thing, give or take an ounce, since the beginning of February. He's some where right around 18 lbs (below the 3rd %-tile), not even big enough to turn his car seat around, typically that is a 1 year old milestone. We continue to try everyday to encourage him to drink as much as possible but there is only so much we can do. We're going in for a blood test to make sure that he is getting the nutrition that his body needs. Needless to say we're really stressed out about him. Thank goodness he is a happy, smiling baby most times of the day. We're so blessed to have him as our little Luke.
Chase is off and running like a typical 3 year old. He is loving ice skating class (or hockey if you asked him) and can't wait for Saturdays to go with dad to the rink. He seems to be questioning everything lately and saying the funniest things. He told me that his breath hurt yesterday :) He loves playing with his guys, cars & trucks, reading, and especially playing football with us after Luke goes to bed. He's also really into getting "special treats" as he calls them. Any kind of dessert is fine with him, he's definitely our son!
The house is still on the market, ugh! We actually got an offer last weekend, slightly off of our asking price, only $80,000 less. We counter offered with our "best" offer and they are considering it but have to check with their lender first. That means, they don't have the money to buy the house. Most people would know that prior to putting in an offer but apparently some people think a little backwards.
Blake is doing alright, not really happy with work but at this point, he's happy that business has picked up a little bit lately. He really wants to start back to school to get his teaching degree but until we sell this house, he has to put off his dream a little longer. I know he's really disappointed about not being able to start this quarter, we were really hoping for the house to sell so that he could get started.
I'm currently on spring break minus the spring part, so much for hoping for great weather. Even though the break is half-way over, I don't have ANY desire to go back to school on Monday. There is a lot going on when school starts up again. In 4th grade the kids do this whole "State Fair" project that is going to consume me when we get back, I can definitely wait. I also was asked to go back and teach 3rd grade next year. I feel mixed emotions about it, happy that I don't need to learn a ton of new curriculum but sad because I really like the group of people that I work with and I'll definitely miss their guidance.
Just to round out the whole family, Buddy is doing well. He's welcoming the rabbits that have taken residence in the surrounding yards and daily greets all of the workers down the street that are building a new house. He is a great dog and we all really love him, especially the boys.
