Terrible 2's

So today we made an appointment with our pediatrician because I was convinced that there had to be something medically wrong with Luke due to his behavior. Turns out, it is just his whiny demeanor that is the problem, not an ear infection.

Lately things with Luke seem to escalate at the drop of a hat, if he doesn't get what he wants the second he demands it, then it turns into a crying fit that usually ends up with him hitting the person that didn't meet his needs quick enough. During the week, it seems so much worse because all he does is whine and cry all morning before work and then there is a repeat performance that evening. I remember going through this with Chase but it all seems fuzzy in my mind, obviously something that I've subconsciously blocked out. I'm so sad that Luke has become more of a chore lately than a pleasure. I'm sure we'll get through this, I know that things come in phases but I'm ready for this phase to be done!

Luke's 2nd Birthday

Singing "Happy Birthday"

Opening presents

Luke's birthday fell on a Friday night this year which was perfect. We had the Chrustowski's over for Olive Garden, cake, and presents.
I can't believe how much has changed in 1 year for Luke. On his 1st birthday we were at Children's Memorial discussing the possibility of a feeding tube due to his lack of eating and "failure to thrive" diagnosis. He had just started crawling when he was one. Now, he runs like the wind and eats like a champ. We call him "Repeat" because he mimics everything we say, good and bad. He is very demanding and always wants something "right now!" He is probably more stubborn than Blake is and that is saying a lot. Although he has a very strong personality, he is still such a snuggle bug and loves to cuddle up and tuck his head into the crook of my neck. Right now he loves all Sandra Boynton books and enjoys reading them by himself in his room. He also has big love for Buddy and is always giving him pats. He is a great kid, I can't wait to see what excitement this year will bring! We love him so much!

Evan Lycacek Day

Friday, March 26th was Evan Lycacek Day in Naperville. He came to my school for an assembly because he went to Spring Brook when he was in elementary school. He went back to his hometown to visit all of his former schools and get the key to the city. Our school was crazy with red, white and blue, all of the excitement of having an Olympic gold medal winner plus a Dancing With the Stars contestant! We were also celebrating DEAR Day and 2 staff members had to dress up as super heros because our students raised our goal for our Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser. The day was nuts and the kids were totally crazy but it was very exciting, even for me!
