Luke's Check Up

Today was Luke's 4 month check up. He weighed in at 14 lbs, 4 oz (35%-tile) and was 26 1/4 in long (87 %-tile). I actually compared his stats with Chase's when he was 4 months. They were the same in height but Chase was actually 2 lbs bigger!

I talked to the doctor about Luke's sleeping habits and she did make me feel a little better (just a little). She basically told me to keep trying to put him down awake but not to get too frustrated because this is around the time that he should be starting to learn how to put himself to sleep. She told me to focus more on the nighttime sleep, that there should be at least a 4-6 hour stretch. Some nights he does that and others he doesn't, I never know what I'm going to get!

I'm hoping the Motrin he got right before he went to sleep tonight (to help ease the soreness from his shots) helps his sleep stretch out a bit longer than usual! A girl can only wish!

My thoughts

I wanted to post some other shots that I've taken over the past few weeks. I can't believe that Luke is getting so big, he'll be 4 months this weekend! Now, if he could only learn how to put himself to sleep, things would be really good.

I feel like summer is flying by. I think I always get this feeling around this time of the summer because school is officially less than a month away now. I feel mixed about going back but I am thrilled that I am going back part-time. The cut in pay is NOT what we need right now but I'll never get this time back with the kids so since it is a done deal, I'm going to try to enjoy all of the extra time I'll have with the boys. I'm so lucky to have this opportunity.

Happy boy!

I had to take this picture, it looks like he is just chilling out!

Pool Time

We have been spending a lot of time in the water lately. We've been to backyard pools, our subdivision pool as well as Centennial Beach with my friend Maria and her kids. Chase loves the water, especially splashing. Here are some pictures from different water events this summer! Chase playing in Paige's pool

Ralph's World Concert

This past weekend we headed out to the Morton Arboretum to see the Ralph's World concert. It was originally scheduled for Saturday but was postponed to Sunday because of rain. Ralph's World is a band that specializes in fun songs for kids, but it isn't too extremely kid-based because adults can have fun too. We went with our friends Sara and Keith and their daughter Paige. Although it was warm, we had a great time and the kids did too. There was a lot of dancing going on!

4th Weekend

We had a great 4th of July weekend. It started with Luke's 3 month pictures. They turned out okay, the photographer just kept calling his name to try to make him smile...like he knows his name, right?@!>? Chase was anxious to ride the merry-go-round at the mall and it was nearing lunch/nap time so by the time we got home, I was ready for the day to be over!

That evening we went to our friends Shawn & Andria's house. We had a nice time, it was good to visit with friends and get out for awhile. We headed home right when the fireworks began because Luke just wouldn't stay asleep. We actually saw a pretty good display on the drive and didn't get eaten alive by all of the bugs!

On Saturday we headed over to Grandma and Papa Rosenberg's house to celebrate Papa's birthday. We had a really nice time at their house, the kids LOVED the pool and were busy almost the entire day, hooray! Chase skipped his nap but ended up falling asleep on the car ride home, around 6:15 and didn't wake up until almost 8 the next morning, it was great!

On Sunday we went over to our friends Sara & Keith's house. Paige, their daughter, had a pool out and Chase and Paige just had to play in it together. We grilled out and had some nice adult conversations, with many kid interruptions but nonetheless, it was a fun time.

Kane County Cougar's Game

After much debate, we decided that we would take Chase to his first "professional" baseball game. As much as we would have loved it to be a Cubs game, there is NO WAY that he could handle that type of environment right now so we thought the Cougars game would be a good choice. Since the arrival of Luke in our lives, we haven't had much time with just the 3 of us. So, my good friend Jodi watched Luke so that would could have a special event for just Mommy, Daddy, and Chase. We ended up having a great time!
There were inflatables that Chase loved jumping in and a big slide that we got to go down with him. Chase ran around with his ball and "glub" aka, glove, and "played baseball." The highlight of the evening though was when we got to see Ozzie, the Cougars mascot. Chase loved being by him and kept on asking where he was. We didn't make it the entire game but almost. It was a great evening and did confirm that Chase isn't quite ready for a Cubs game yet. To top it off, Luke slept from 10:30-7:00, a new record by far! I'm not holding my breath that he'll do that again but I can always hope! Having a ball in the "jumping place"

Brookfield Zoo

We had a great day at the zoo on Tuesday. The weather was beautiful and it was nice to spend some time with Grandma. Chase was so excited about the animals and enjoyed watching some of the bigger animals like the bears and tigers. He kept insisting that he wanted to see an alligator so the last stop of the day was the swamp. When we finally got to the alligator, it just sat there, motionless and extremely boring. I think he was disappointed and told my mom that he "didn't like the all-gator because he's scares me." Oh well, maybe next time he'll choose something a little more exciting! Chase watching the lions, how exciting!
